Soulful Psychology for a life of beauty, depth and sensuality
Hello, consciousness explorer! My name is Kim Seppälä. I'm a writer and researcher of consciousness (and a soon-to-be psychologist).
"How does awakening affect our mental health, relationships and passion for life? How can expanded consciousness be grounded and applied to real life? And how do our emotions change when we become more conscious?" These are some of the topics explored on this site.
Whether you call it a spiritual path, a new thought philosophy, or new energy psychology, I'm passionate about the integration of inner wisdom with the embodied, sensory experience of being human.
In today's world, psychology and awakening/self-realization are often perceived as two distinctly separate domains. Many psychologists avoid the "spiritual" aspect of life (whatever that means!) for fear of being unscientific. They might study the functioning of the mind and emotions for decades, all the while denying or ignoring the existence of a deeper, timeless Self that cannot be captured with 3-dimensional scientific instruments.
At the same time, spiritual teachers often fail to explain how their mystical teachings can be applied to modern life. Knowing about our angelic origins matters little when we are dealing with very earthly problems like low self-esteem, toxic relationships or anxiety. In fact, spirituality is often used as a bypass technique to not face our emotional wounds. (I certainly have.)
Yet, in essence, psychology and awakening share the same purpose: To know ourselves and to free ourselves from suffering. So what is soulful psychology like? I describe it as an approach to mental health and natural wellbeing that acknowledges all the facets of our being - the wise soul that exists beyond time and space, AND the human ego with its emotions, thoughts and body sensations. And definitely something that is supportive to living a magical, authentic and natural life.
