Hello! My name is Kim Seppälä, and I'm a psychologist, writer and consciousness explorer.
"How does awakening affect our relationships, mental health and passion for life? How can expanded consciousness be grounded and applied to real life? How do our emotions change when we become more conscious? And what happens to the mind after awakening?" These are some of the topics explored on this site.
Whether you call it holistic psychology, psychology for conscious humans, or transpersonal psychology, I'm passionate about the integration of inner wisdom with the embodied, sensory experience of being human.
In today's world, there is an artificial line drawn between the domains of psychology and awakening. Many psychologists avoid the "spiritual" aspect of Self (whatever that means) for fear of being unprofessional or un-scientific. After all, the timeless, divine essence of our being cannot be captured with 3-dimensional scientific instruments.
At the same time, spirituality is recklessly used as a bypass technique to avoid facing the pain or emptiness within. This is nothing new: ancient Zen practitioners invented a word for the habit of using spirituality as a distraction from true self-realization. (The word is "makyo".) No amount of crystal healing or chakra cleansing will "heal" low self-esteem, toxic relationships or anxiety until the individual is ready to choose and allow something new.
Yet, in essence, psychology and the path to self-realization share the same purpose: To know our true nature and to free ourselves from suffering.
The magic of life unfolds with each step we take closer to our natural, authentic self.
There are many schools and traditions of psychology. In my counselling practice, I apply an intuitive, integrative and creative approach to wellbeing that acknowledges all the facets of our being - the divine Self that exists beyond time and space, AND the human personality with its emotions, thoughts and body sensations. Holistic psychology is a supportive companion to the awakened human who is ready to allow more beauty, depth and joy into her/his life.
Whether it is a big leap in life or a fine twist in perspective; a fresh perception of self; a deep sigh of relief and relaxation; a smile of joy as you embrace the colors and sensuality of life again; or simply, a compassionate reminder of the perfection that You are right here, right now; a persistent voice repeating: All is well in the safe space of self-love.
